Review process
The Editorial Board of SAMAI reserves the right to reject texts (both articles and book reviews) previously published by the author. This also applies to situations where, despite a change in title and content, the essence of the text – i.e., the research questions, argumentation and conclusions – remains unchanged compared to an earlier publication. Texts that fall outside the chronological and geographical scope of SAMAI will also not be considered for review.
Academic articles submitted to SAMAI are sent for double-blind, written peer review (from the second issue of SAMAI, each article is reviewed by two reviewers; in the case of clearly divergent opinions, the article is sent to a third reviewer whose opinion is binding; there must be no conflict of interest between reviewers and authors).
Book reviews submitted to SAMAI are not subject to the review process.
Reviewers are asked to assess the following criteria:
- the academic character of the text and its methodological correctness,
- the originality of the author's research and novelty in the approach to the problem (polemical and review articles are, however, also welcome),
- the clarity of the text, precision and coherence of argumentation,
- the degree to which the topic has been covered, and the use of sources and literature,
- the correct editorial form of the text (in accordance with the guidelines for contributors).
The reviewer recommends rejection of the article or its acceptance:
- in its current form,
- after corrections (if significant changes are required, the revised text will be sent for re-review).
